Safewalks: 333-1216
SafeWalks is a courtesy service provided to University of Illinois students, faculty, or staff, so that they do not have to walk alone within the campus area. People who are interested in a SafeWalk should contact the University of Illinois Police Student Patrol during their operating hours (9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday through Thursday and 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., Friday or Saturday). Please give at least 20 minutes notice for the SafeWalk.

Saferides: 265-RIDE
The purpose of 335 SafeRides is to provide safe transportation to individuals who are generally traveling alone when no other means of safe transportation are available within the designated 335 SafeRides boundaries. There is a maximum limit of three (3) persons per pick-up location, except at the Illini Union, ISR, and the Main Library at Armory & Wright. From Dusk (7:00P/5:00P) until 6:00A you can use 335 SafeRides by calling 217.265.7433.

Emergency Dean: 333-0050
The Emergency Dean provides information and follow-up services to students and families in an emergency situation. Also, the Emergency Dean acts as a resource to community and University law enforcement agencies, hospitals and crisis centers.  The Emergency Dean can send a letter for extended absences due to an illness, accident or family crisis. The Emergency Dean can be reached 24-hours a day, 7 days a week by calling (217) 333-0050. Between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, professional staff in the Office of the Dean of Students serve as Emergency Dean. At all other times, an on-call Emergency Dean serves on a rotating basis.

Rape Hotline: (217) 355-5203 (24 hrs./day, 7days/wk.)–to speak with a rape crisis counselor–not necessary to provide name or phone number); or (217) 344-6298 (Mon.-Thur., 8:30 am-5 pm; Fri., 8:30 am-noon)–to schedule an appointment to speak with a therapist

Campus Parking (roadside assistance) 244-HELP:

The Parking Department provides the following services at no charge for University employees and students within our service area.  All you need to do is dial 244-HELP.

Lock Out Service (We will unlock your car for you or call a locksmith if you prefer.)

Jump Start ( We will provide you with jumper cables and guidance in using them.)

Flat Tire (We will provide air to inflate your tire.)

Out of Gas (We will provide a safe container to transport gas, along with directions to the nearest gas station.)

Hours of Service: Dial 244-HELP for the above services anytime from 7:00 a.m.-5:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.  (The services are not available on all-campus holidays or at any time the University is closed.)

Area of Service: Services are available at all University buildings and lots within the area surrounded by University Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, Curtis Road, and Neil Street. Please note, we do not serve residential street areas surrounding campus (i.e. Chalmers from 1st to 4th street is residential; east of 4th street is served).

McKinley Health Center (dial a nurse) 333-2700
(24 hrs./day, 7days/wk.):

Dial-A-Nurse answers questions about illnesses, injuries or other health concerns. Depending on the nature of the problem, the nurse may suggest basic first-aid, a visit to the Health Center’s self-care center, an appointment at the Center, coming immediately to the Center, or a visit to the emergency department of a community hospital.  Information discussed with the Dial-A-Nurse is entered on the medical record and is confidential.

People can remain anonymous while calling the Crimestoppers Tip Line.
