History is being written at University of Illinois.

The heart of every community is the Torah, it is what Jewish life is all about. Its what guides, enlivens and unites all Jews. For a community to have it own Torah, makes a community permanent.

We are excited to announce, that on April 10, we will write the first letters in the:

For the first time at the University of Illinois, the writing of a brand new Torah will start and finish on campus accompanied with much Joy and celebration!!

The Torah will be given to the Chabad Center on campus at the University of Illinois where it will be used for many generations of Jewish Illini to come!

The Torah is dedicated in Memory of Bonnie Dayan z’l, a proud alumnus of the class of 1979, mother of 2 campus leaders and a woman to whom Jewish life at Illinois was very dear.

The first letters will be written in the Torah on Sunday, April 10 at 12pm at Chabad during the concluding brunch of mom’s weekend

Look out for an email with all the details and link to a special site where you can dedicate a letter, a verse, a Parsha, Chumash and more. YOU can be a part of this special Torah. Every Student, Alum, family and friend is encouraged to take a part in this important mitzvah.
